The Town of Hanover, NH announced today that Town Manager Alex Torpey will be transitioning out of his role as Town Manager with a departure date that Torpey and the Selectboard have set for July 31st, 2024
Reflecting on Alex’ work with the Town since his hire two years earlier, long-serving Selectboard member and former Chair, Athos Rassias notes that “Among Alex’ strongest attributes is his ability to look at problems from a critical point of view. Almost immediately after beginning his tenure the town was faced with issues that benefited from this skill, such as in areas related to personnel and human resources, engagement with the public, and economic/community development. Alex brought new thinking and ideas which will have lasting impact on our community.”
Current Selectboard Chair Carey Callaghan thanks Alex for “his high energy and contributions over the past two years. We wish him every success in his new endeavors.”
For his part, Torpey adds: “It’s been an honor to serve the Town of Hanover. Although I'm excited about my next steps, I will miss the wonderful and engaging people with whom I’ve had the opportunity to work. We accomplished a lot in the last two years, and in large part that was due to our dedicated Town employees.”
By unanimous vote, the Selectboard has named Rob Houseman as interim Town Manager. Mr. Houseman brings deep knowledge of the town’s people, policies, infrastructure and plans for the future and he/she will begin working with Alex in the coming days to ensure a smooth transition. The Selectboard will commence a search for a new Town Manager in the coming weeks.
